Just got home and went into the garden...?

...and began to water the plants - the strangest thing has happened to my Fushia!? Its a new plant about 1 and 1/2ft tall and has four stems which come from the main branch (at the base near the soil) these stems have split away from the main branch as though pressure has been applies in the centre to make them peel away from the main branch.

This has made the stems spread out and rest on the rim of the pot they are planted in?

Is this normal?

Will the plant live as its been doing really well and has about 16 buds on it?

Any ideas? I'll be so gutted if this spells the end for my lovely fushia

Many thanks :-)

(have previously posted this, but had no answers - think it may be in the US section!?)

Possibly a cat, large bird , or a football/ basketball ! You can try binding the stems back into position, (have done this successfully with clingfilm and stem ties) or cut damaged stems back to sound wood. You will possibly lose this years flowers, but you will be amazed how damaged plants can recover if root system is strong. Good luck.
Reply:It sounds as if something has broken them off the main stem. New Fuchsia branches are quite easy to break. Give it a day or two and if they are wilting, cut them off and you should have new growth soon but don't overwater, they don't like soggy soil.
Reply:i think an animal has had something to do with that
